Time Commanders is a series of programmes made by Lion TV for BBC Two that ran for two seasons from 2003 to 2005. It uses an edited version of the game engine behind the real-time strategy game Rome: Total War by the Creative Assembly to recreate famous battles of the ancient world. The battles are replayed by 4-player teams from diverse backgrounds. The teams are unfamiliar with computer games, to make sure their gaming skills do not influence their success. After a brief introduction of the battle, including an overview of military units, terrain and available forces, the players have to develop a strategy and then deploy their forces. Two of the players are selected as generals, who will direct the battle and have access to a strategic map. The other two players are designated lieutenants, the units are indirectly controlled by the lieutenants, who issue commands to program assistants, who in turn use the game interface to control the units.

englishfrenchgerman @ Although the game accounts for the endurance and morale discipline. Discipline in the war games total is the ability of units to reform rapidly. Morale is represented by how long the units will remain in combat before routing. Stamina determines the speed of the unit moves on the battlefield and has an effect on unit morale. Units may have taken the moral discipline less and less endurance. Very armored units tend to be less and endurance.

Oh, poor cataphracti – their commanders are dilettantes without abilty logical analysis. .

This team was doomed from the start. They do not seem to get what they were in control of images, not real men. These soldiers will do what they are told and not experience fatigue or feeling emotions as real people do.

@ Arathegreat007 The impression I had was that Tigran made the mistake of keeping the rest of his men in a crowd while sending the large cataphracti alone. The Romans were able to defeat the attack and the attack on the demoralized infantry

omg. I can understand these people do not play but man they are bad. Others in the series are much more proactive. Generals move the blocks on the board as needed and are generally always talk to each other. The generals in this episode are still standing all the time. This lot look a unit of archers miserabley March to their fate in a pathetic attempt to cause damage to the Roman crossing. Then they realize they do not even mobilized the rest of their army. . . WAKE UP!

This show would be with better players. .

From the looks of things, I’d say it’s pretty obvious that players were acting under the misconception that the Romans would not be allowed to move while they were deploying their troops. I think it was a bit unfair not to disabuse them of this notion, because it was a simple failure to understand the game mechanics, but perhaps it was not obvious at the time.

They do not even seem particularly interested in the subject or the game
July 21st, 2010 at 6:44 pm

July 21st, 2010 at 8:03 pm
these morons are just born they are commanders, almost all teams before them have raised their voice was quick and decisive and retained a measure of control, these guys are half the battle arsing
July 21st, 2010 at 8:38 pm
It is nice to see how the common people be in control of an army: P, and this is not even true.
July 21st, 2010 at 9:37 pm
they have already lost the river crossing. . . Shouldve they put Armenian archers at the top of the plateau and have at least 2 units of spearmen in front of media. then the rest of the army form at the bottom of the plateau with the river on their left side and wait for the Romans. Until we come to the bowmen showering deplete their forces. Use the cataphracti to hit and run and maybe take their cavalry. That’s what I would do.

Oh my god, if you have dumb people on your air show and not just find new ones is horrible.
July 21st, 2010 at 10:37 pm
What I did is run halfway, then get all my picks in front of the river as they crossed its a mssica stuck in the water and tbucherd GE
July 21st, 2010 at 10:37 pm
Maybe the directors knew they gameshow when it comes to morons and decided to give them more chance.
July 21st, 2010 at 11:25 pm
I only looked at 2:46, but so far I think they have either run for it and hope to defend Thei side of the river by blocking the Romans to fight while in the river or leave Romans go. a battle, even if accompaniment is not possible (the river) will go for the Romans as Dicipline said Roman, Roman learning, Roman Tactics and Roman training.
July 21st, 2010 at 11:45 pm
You want to archers and Calvary near the crossing not send a single Milita peasent bas.Archers there on the heights, attacking the ordeal in the training of shock until the enemy is dissolving.
